The four-day workweek is gaining steam within the business world, but it might not be a fit for everyone. That’s why a more relaxed Friday is also gaining popularity in today’s world. Approaching your Friday with a different mindset compared to the rest of the workweek can help you refresh your batteries, recharge your mind, and even refocus your energies, especially when you are working from home.
But don’t take it from me. Listen to these professionals who use Friday’s as a way to finish their workweek in style:
(1) “Tie up loose ends”
“I am the founder of a sportswear company and I really have grown to enjoy my Fridays.
They used to be just another busy day in a string of busy days, but the more experienced and comfortable I’ve gotten, the more I can take advantage of these days. I used to work my butt off every day to get settled and figure things out. Now, things are a little more steady, and I can really take advantage of the end of the week.
Now that things are more solid, I can tie up loose ends, have some fun with new ideas, and even look into possible growth strategies. It’s a day to explore ways we can grow and expand as a company. Throughout the week, I am mostly reactive to things that come to me. But on Fridays, I’m more proactive in finding new ways to expand and accelerate the growth of Sportswear Manufacturer!”

(2) “Destressing after a busy week”
“The perfect WFH Friday is made up of me taking care of loose ends because the rest of my week has been productive and successful. I think Fridays are best for capping off the week and it’s a great day to do things that need to be done, but aren’t of the utmost of importance.
By Friday, I’m feeling a little mentally drained and I know I need to recharge my mind to be fresh for Monday when I need to be 110% prepared for big projects and major decisions. That’s why I usually am a little more relaxed on Friday. I may not start right at 8 am (8:30 at the latest), I have some light music on or a podcast, and I focus on the tasks that will feel nice to get rid of. Paying bills, responding to emails, and more.
This is my perfect WFH Friday and is a nice way to wrap up the week. It wraps up those loose ends, allows me to make the most the rest of the week, and rewards me for a solid week of work.”

(3) “Away from virtual calls”
“On Friday’s, my first priority is to get away from virtual calls. I block off my calendar from new meetings, plan all my team meetings throughout the rest of the week, and even ignore possible meeting requests until the start of the next week.
Virtual calls and meetings are so mentally draining. By the end of the week, I need to just get away from them and spend time on my own. I need this time at the end of the week to get away from things and I can’t do calls on a Friday. I just can’t.
My recommendation is to plan your calls during the other four days of the week. Leave your Friday’s open to listen to podcasts, maybe even sleep in, and ignore the mental exertion of virtual calls.”
